I have always enjoyed drawing and carry a sketchbook whenever possible. This collection of sketches show my observations from visits to the Mop Fair in Stratford Upon Avon. They are mostly small in scale, usually made at the location, sometimes working across two pages to give me a wider panoramic view. I am attracted to this wider format, it inspires me and can produce some unexpected results.
The Mop Fair was traditionally an event to hire local domestic labour, today it's a busy modern fun-fair that attracts of all ages. It's exciting to experience all the fun of the fair and to watch and sketch the activities of the visitors.
